Microsoft officials say they have fixed a problem that causes the latest version of the company’s Excel spreadsheet program to produce multiplication errors.

The patches will be offered via Microsoft Update and eventually included in Office 2007 SP1.

Calculations resulting in values between 65534.99999999995 and 65535 were displayed as 100000, while results between 65535.99999999995 and 65536 appeared in spreadsheets as 100001.
