Apple’s Leopard Hacked To Run On A PC

The Apple Leopard OS X operating system may be out for just a few days, but hackers have already figured out how install the new OS and run it on a PC.

Full instructions are being offered by the OSx86 Scene forum that will allow users to install Apple’s latest operating system, Leopard, on a PC. The process involves no new hardware, but some features such as Wi-Fi support will not work.

Although it’s possible to run Mac OS X on a PC, Apple does not allow publishers of virtualization software to develop a PC-friendly method of running their OS on Windows machines.

$100 Laptop Goes on Sale for $200

Nicholas Negroponte’s much-touted $100 laptop is now officially on sale via the One Laptop per Child Foundation’s Web site, with production cost now totaling $200.

The $200 price tag is only for those purchasing a minimum of 10,000 laptops. For 1,000 laptops, the price goes to $249 and OLPC says it will use that $49 to fund additional laptops. Those wanting to donate just 100 laptops can buy them for $299 each, with $99 going toward more laptops.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani became the richest person in the world, surpassing American software czar Bill Gates, Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim Helu and investment guru Warren Buffett.

The net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to 63.2 billion dollars after a strong share price rally in his three group companies — India’s most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd.

The net worth of both Gates and Slim is estimated to be slightly lower at around 62.29 billion dollars each, with Slim leading among the two by a narrow margin.

Warren Buffett, earlier the third richest in the world, also dropped one position with a net worth of about 56 billion dollars.
