The European Commission announced that Microsoft has agreed to fully comply with an antitrust decision by the European Union (EU) in 2004.
Microsoft will now take the necessary steps to comply with its obligations under the Commission’s 2004 decision regarding work group server operating systems, including making interoperability information available to “open source” software developers.

Oracle Corp.said that its $6.7 billion offer for BEA Systems Inc. will expire on Sunday if a decision is not made by BEA by then.
BEA rejected the Oracle offer and Oracle President Charles Phillips said that BEA has since rejected the proposed deal again and refused to meet with Oracle to discuss the offer.

Symantec warned that attackers are actively targeting an un-patched flaw in Real Networks’ popular RealPlayer multimedia viewer to run malicious code via the victim’s Web browser.
RealPlayer is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks of user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
