Macrovision to acquire Blu Ray disc DRM for $45M

Macrovision Corporation announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire certain technology assets from Cryptography Research, Inc. (CRI), the San Francisco-based R&D organization focused on solving complex security problems.

Motorola dominates U.S. mobile phone sales

U.S. consumers shelled out $3.2 billion to purchase 38 million cellphones in the third quarter of this year, which is up 47% from the same period one year ago, according to a report released by NPD.

Apple to pay $10M to settle dispute

Burst.com announced that Apple has agreed to pay $10 million, settling a patent infringement lawsuit involving almost two years of litigation.
The suit, which alleged that Apple had infringed four patents for compression of compressed audio and video files in iTunes, iLife, QuickTime and the iPod.

Google search market share now at 60%

Google expanded its search market share in October, while all of its competitors lost ground. Market research firm Comscore estimates Google’s October core search market share at 58.5%, up from 57.0% in September.

Hewlett-Packard Profit Jumps 28%

Hewlett-Packard reported a fourth quarter net profits of $2.16 billion dollars, up 28 per cent from the $1.69 billion of the year-ago quarter.
