Yahoo announced it would cut 1,000 jobs by February after the sales in the fourth quarter dropped 23 percent.
Yahoo reported that the net income for the last quarter ending December 31 dropped approximately 60 million dollars compared to the same period a year ago, while the operating income fell 38% compared to last year, to $191 million.

Canon Inc. reported a 1.8% rise in its fourth-quarter profit, helped by strong sales across most of its business and geographical divisions.

AMD and Intel apparently have ended up in a much more stable CPU market position that what we have seen in the early parts of 2007. According to IDC, both companies saw their Q4 share in the CPU market remain almost flat over Q3.

Mobile phone maker Nokia has announced that they are now acquiring Trolltech ASA. The deal would be conducted in a cash transaction and is worth around US$153 million.
Trolltech is based in Oslo and provide software and services used in popular web applications like Skype, Google Earth and Adobe Photoshop Elements.
