Google Offered to Help Yahoo

Reports indicated that Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt called Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang and offered their help in thwarting Microsoft’s bid through a possible collaboration.

Google said a Microsoft-Yahoo deal would be bad for the Internet.

If Google and Yahoo do collaborate with each other, Microsoft would be in a very big trouble when it comes to Internet and online services.

Yahoo sells its music subscription service to Rhapsody America

Yahoo announced they will no longer operate its online music subscription service – Yahoo Music Unlimited.

Yahoo is reportedly switching its customers to RealNetwork’s Rhapsody music service.

Yahoo Music Unlimited lets users download an unlimited number of tracks that are playable as long as their plan is active.

Ericsson to power Lenovo Mobile Broadband

Telecom equipment supplier Ericsson said that they are now working with Chinese PC manufacturer Lenovo to provide mobile broadband modules for Lenovo computers.

These modules would be based on the high speed packet access (HSPA) technology to provide mobile Internet access.

Lenovo said that they would ship these technologies through their selected Lenovo ThinkPad notebook models later this year.
