Microsoft announced that it will continue supplying Windows XP operating system to makers of low cost laptops. Windows XP is crucial for these notebooks considering they are not powerful enough to support the Vista operating system.

Intel Classmate PC and Asus EEE PC have shown that customers have tremendous interest in low cost computing machines.

Adobe Creative Suite CS4 announced

Adobe has now announced the latest release of their Creative Suite – Adobe Creative Suite CS4.

CS4 will be a 64-bit version of the photo-editing software, but will only available for Windows Vista and not for Mac OS X.  This is because many of the applications which make up CS4 (including Photoshop) are written in the Carbon development language rather than Cocoa.

MySpace launches MySpace Music

MySpace officially launches their own digital media service named MySpace Music.

MySpace said that they are launching this new service in collaboration with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group Corp.

The service will enable users to listen to music and watch videos for free. They would then be able to buy them from their store online.

Intel said they are working on a new technology designed to prevent theft of notebooks.  Intel calls it Intel Anti-Theft Technology.

This new feature would be added to their Active Management Technology which is already a part of the Centrino vPro.  Once available, users will be able to lock the system and lock the disk.

Adobe testing Adobe Media Player

Adobe announced they have started testing their Adobe Media Player application through limited public tests.

The company is working with media partners including CBS and Viacom for this initiative.

Software giant Microsoft has given Yahoo a deadline after which they are planning to launch a hostile takeover attempt at a lesser price offer.

The company said that Yahoo has to accept a deal before April 26 or they would start targeting the shareholders of the company.

A federal jury in San Diego has ordered Microsoft Corp. to pay $367 million in damages to Alcatel-Lucent for patent infringement.

The case, which Microsoft says it will appeal, is related to user interface technology.
