NEC to acquire U.S. software company NetCracker

NEC Corp. said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire NetCracker Technology Corp. (NetCracker), a U.S.-based software and solutions company, for about US $300 million, in a bid to prop up its network business.

NEC said it plans to boost sales of its network business by 200 billion yen ($1.87 billion) over the next five years via the acquisition of the U.S. company.

NetCracker designs network interfaces and communications services.
