100,000 Sony Battery Packs Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Sony announced a voluntary recall of about 35,000 batteries and an additional 65,000 batteries that were sold worldwide used in Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and Dell Notebook Computers.

The voluntary recall was due to reports that the lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. There have been 19 reports of the batteries overheating, including 17 reports of flames/fire (10 resulting in minor property damage). Two consumers experienced minor burns.
