Sun launches JavaFX Mobile platform

Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced the availability of the JavaFX Mobile platform, enabling the Java wireless ecosystem to create expressive solutions, which leverage the power and ubiquity of the Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME).

Sun also announced that several handset manufacturers and operators, including LG, Sony Ericsson, MobiTV, Orange and Sprint, have already signed up to the project.

Nokia and Facebook in Alliance Talks

Facebook may soon become available in some Nokia phones as the two companies are in talks for a possible alliance.

But Nokia is still deciding whether to work with established web player like Facebook or to build a social network application from the ground up.

Facebook on the other hand is also currently working Palm, Motorola and other mobile operators and device makers.

Dell Unveils Wasabi Printer

Dell announced the Wasabi PZ310 ultra-mobile printer for instant photo printing and sharing anytime, anywhere.

Wasabi is designed to work with Bluetooth-enabled* camera phones, digital cameras and mobile PCs as the perfect travel companion for capturing and sharing memories with instant wallet-size photos.

Square Enix to buy Tomb Raider firm Eidos

Video maker Square Enix, known for its “Final Fantasy” and “Dragon Quest” games, has agreed to acquire UK publisher Eidos for 84.3 million pounds ($120 million).

Eidos is the creator of Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft and Championship Manager.

Dell announced an updated version of its Latitude tablet edition, the Latitude XT2, featuring a 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800 capacitive touch screen, which can also be used with an EM stylus, and features a relatively powerful Core 2 Duo ULV processor running at either 1.2 or 1.4 GHz.

The XT2 comes loaded with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as eSATA, FireWire, VGA out and two USB ports.
