HP unveils “Make it Count” campaign with new products and services

HP Philippines outlined its portfolio of cost and energy efficient technologies, solutions, and flexbible services and support options for the enterprise and the SMB market.

First on the list is HP’S Smart Print Services (SPS), a total printing solution enabling companies to manage their print environment with the latest HP printer technology, supplies, support and maintenance services.

For one affordable and predictable monthly payment, HP SPS provides everything the organization needs for reliable printing: Latest in HP printer technologies, repair and maintenance support and supplies management.

HP also introduced new products like: the HP Laserjet P2035 Printer, HP Laserjet P2055 printer, HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Series, HP Officejet Pro 8000 printer, HP Scanjet 5000 Sheet-feed scanner, and the HP Scanjet 7000 Sheet-feed scanner.

HP also showcased their HP Officejet Pro Pigment ink technology, newly enhanced HP “Low-Melt” monochrome toner and the HP Spherical monochrome toner.

BBC Violated Computer Misuse Act after Botnet Experiment

Security researchers at Sophos said BBC violated the law after the BBC admitted to hacking as many as 22,000 PCs without the users’ consent, and the hacked computers were then converted into botnets.

In a BBC produced program entitled ‘Click’, BBC acquired 22,000 compromised machines, then they created two new e-mail accounts with Gmail and Hotmail and ordered their botnet to start sending e-mails to the two accounts. The presenter of Click sent the execute command to their botnet and thousands of e-mails started appearing in their two inboxes.

Click also teamed up with security vendor Prevx who setup a backup server for the show. Click then ordered its botnet to start a Distributed Denial of Service (DoS) attack on that server and with just 60 machines it was overloaded.

Google Voice puts pressure on Skype

Google has launched Google Voice, where the main goal is to provide its users one phone number for all their phones, for life. Google Voice gives users one phone number that can access all their numbers, whether they be cell, home, mobile, and work numbers.

The Google Voice numbers stay the same, as many of these number change over the course of a user’s lifetime.

Google’s added new features and plugged some big holes that limited the original service. Some of the more useful and innovating new features : Text Messaging, Voicemail Transcription, Friend Settings, New User Interface and Conference and International Calls.

Toshiba launches super-slim full HD pocket camcorders

Toshiba officially introduced the Camileo S10 pocketcam, which is aimed directly at a growing market of consumers looking to record high-quality video with a small, portable device.

The S10 is Toshiba’s flagship model that is tiny in size but has the ability to record high-definition videos in 1080p resolution, the company said. It has a 2.5-inch screen flip screen, 5-megapixel sensor for taking regular pictures, 4x digital zoom, and has 128MB built-in memory, along with an SD card slot.
