Cisco recently announced that it has bought Pure Digital Technologies, Inc. creator of Flip Video, a device use to capture digital video. Aside from Flip video, the product portfolio includes Flip Mino HD, Flip Mino, and Flip Ultra.

Cisco will be paying US$590 million in stock for all Pure Digital shares and will provide up to US$15 million in retention-based incentives for Pure Digital employees.

Gmail offers ‘Undo Send’ feature

The Gmail labs have come up with a feature called “Undo Send,” that lets you abort the sending of any Gmail message within five seconds.

The service is designed to stop people who make the mistake of hitting the “reply all” button when they only wanted to send the email to one person on the list.

94% of users hate the new Facebook

Facebook is asking its users what they think about its new layout, and things aren’t looking good for the social networking site.

Out of 800,000 users who took part in the poll, 94 percent said they hated it. Users also used the poll to post their comments, which were quite bitter and hateful.

Samsung debuts iTunes rival

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of a new service which would enable mobile users to buy or rent movies and TV series online which can then be downloaded on their mobile devices.

Samsung Movies service will offer more than 500 films from studios such as Warner, Paramount, and Universal.

The service will only work with video-enabled Samsung phones later the plan is to stick it on notebooks, MP3 and MP4 portable music players, and Samsung TVs.

Norton Online Backup launched

Symantec is entering the cloud-based storage service market with the launch of their latest product named Norton Online Backup.

The technology allows home users to back up and store information from up to five home computers at an online destination that can be accessed via a Web browser.

Symantec said that they are using 128-bit AES encryption to protect the data integrity while it is being transferred to their servers. The data is stored with 256-bit AES encryption on their own servers.

Norton Online Backup would charge $49 for 25GB of capacity. User can purchase additional storage capacities.
