In the Philippines, where the education system has been constantly beset with the sparse number of teachers and limited resources, technology poses a vital lifeline – a way for teachers and students to access and process information they need to be globally competent.
As leader in ICT integration for education, Globe Telecom launched the Global Filipino Schools (GFS) program today through its corporate social responsibility arm Globe Bridging Communities. GFS is a competency-building initiative that utilizes ICT to help students, teachers, and school heads in select public high schools nationwide. It will be conducted in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Coalition for Better Education (CBE).
Microsoft Philippines is also supporting GFS by integrating its own ICT for education programs, providing schools with technical support and giving academic rates for software licenses.
