Intel introduces 11 new mobile processors for 2010 – five Core i7s, four Core i5s, and two Core i3s.

The new lineup includes mainstream notebook-use Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 “Arrandale” CPUs, based on new 32-nanometer technology.

It feature a CPU, HD-capable graphics processor, and a memory controller on a single die. The new Core i3, i5, and i7 have dual CPU cores.

Nokia announced it has filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission ( ITC ) alleging that Apple infringes Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, and computers.

The seven Nokia patents in this complaint relate to Nokia’s pioneering innovations that are now being used by Apple to create key features in its products in the area of user interface, as well as camera, antenna and power management technologies. These patented technologies are important to Nokia’s success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size and longer battery life for Nokia products.

Apple announced that over three billion apps have now been downloaded from its barely-18-month-old App Store. The App Store now offers over 100000 apps–over 20000 of which are games–to more than 50 million iPhone and iPod Touch users in 77 countries.

In a press release, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said “Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months — this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.”

Gartner Inc.announced that it acquired Burton Group, Inc. for approximately $56 million in cash.

Burton Group is a leading research and advisory services firm that focuses on providing practical, technically in-depth advice to front-line IT professionals. The firm has approximately 41 research analysts, 40 sales and client service associates, and projected 2009 revenue of $30 million.

The acquisition of Burton Group is expected to expand Gartner’s product and service offerings, and increase its IT research market opportunity. The combination is also expected to drive operational efficiencies and cost savings.

Ex-Google China president Kai-Fu Lee predicted that the much anticipated Apple Table will be made available by January 26, 2010.

Lee added that the new device will cost under $1000 USD and will have 3D graphics. The Apple Tablet is rumored to be a a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen, support for e-books and videoconferencing, “3D graphics support” and a virtual keyboard like the one used on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Lee also said the device will weigh half of what the MacBook Air weighs.

Google has now confirmed that they are going to announce something related to Android mobile platform this coming January 5.

And reports are indicating that the announcement has something to do with Google’s own branded Android powered smartphone Google Nexus One.

Google Nexus One has been manufactured for the company by HTC.

Acer releases a brand new offering into its Aspire One line-up of netbooks – the Acer Aspire One 532h.

The Aspire One 532h will come with a 10.1-inch display sitting on top of a Intel N450 processor, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 1GB RAM, a 160GB/250GB HDD, and Windows 7 Starter.

Other features include a 3-cell battery, 5-in-1 card reader, 0.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and three USB ports. It will be available in four different colours (Blue, Red, Black and Silver). It has dimensions of 22.9 x 31.5 x 11cm and weighs 1.25kg.

Google’s Chrome browser has surpassed Apple’s Safari in market share for the first time ever, according to the latest NetApplications stats, seeing large growth to move to 4.63 percent, just ahead of Safari’s 4.46 percent. Overall, Chrome moved 18 percent from 3.93 in November.

Firefox declined to 24.61 percent, and Internet Explorer continued its long term downtrend, falling to 62.29 percent.

Technology enthusiasts highly anticipates the announcement Apple is soon to make regarding their new products. Industry rumors indicated that Apple might announce two separate products – the Apple iSlate and the Apple iGuide.

Apple iSlate could be an eBook Reader while Apple iGuide could be the Tablet PC.

According to a recent McAfee report, the year 2010 will witness Adobe surpassing Microsoft as the primary target for hackers and virus writers.

McAfee also predict an increase in the severity and density of attacks aimed at users who frequent social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. They also mention that banking based Trojans will step up a gear and become more deadly and possibly even more sophisicated.

The security firm also predict that botnets, the main source of cyberattacks are likely to move towards a more ‘peer to peer’ based structure that will be much more difficult to stop.
