Google Nexus One on January 5?

Google is reportedly showcasing the Nexus One in California on the 5th of January. Reports indicated that Google already sent out invitations to the media for a formal showing of the Nexus One phone.

The Google smart phone will be launched in America with T-Mobile who are the partner for the launch. Google are also going to be selling the phone over the internet and will be offering direct support themselves to customers possibly with help from HTC, the manufacturer.

Mozilla to launch its mobile web browser – ‘Fennec’

Mozilla is reportedly ready to launch its Firefox web browser ‘Fennec’ for mobile phones. Fennec comes from the Fennec Fox, a small desert fox (just as the Fennec Browser is a small version of Firefox browser).

Firefox Fnnec interface is optimized for touch-oriented UI, auto-hiding controls and URL bar to maximize content, touch-enabled bookmarking and controls and tabbed browsing. It also has Password manager, Popup blocker, Clear recent history, security settings customization, and automated update.

COMDDAP recently concluded its annual Manila event with flying colors. As expected, people from all walks of life trooped to SMX Convention Center of the SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City from December 3 to 6, 2009.

No less than Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and CICT commissioner Ramon Ibrahim grace the opening ceremony of the said event.

Acer introduces their latest line of laptop, notebook, netbook and desktop PCs during their recent event dubbed “Innovation”.

Acer paraded the Acer Ferrari One FO200-313G50n, Acer Aspire 5738PG-874G50Bn, Acer Aspire 5738DG-744G50Mn, Gateway EC14D03i, Acer Aspire M7721 and Predator G7750, and Acer Aspire M5810

Fuji Xerox recently launched their latest lines of DocuPrint and Phaser printers and multi-function printers. These latest offerings cater to the SME and SOHO markets by offering fully featured printers and MFPs at affordable prices.

Seagate introduces first Solid State Drive called Pulsar

Seagate introduced the Seagate Pulsar drive, the first product in its new enterprise solid state drive (SSD) family. Designed for enterprise blade and general server applications, the Pulsar drive uses single-level cell (SLC) technology, delivers up to 200GB capacity, and is built in a 2.5-inch small form factor with a SATA interface. The Pulsar drive leverages Seagate’s 30 years of leadership in meeting large enterprise customer needs in product development, qualification, and support.

Sony Ericsson issues firmware upgrade to Satio and Aino

Sony Ericsson announced that they have issued software fixes and they are now available for download after their latest handset Satio and Aino experienced some technical problems that prompted shops in the UK to pull it out from the shelves.

The software updates will allow Satio and Aino owners to easily update their handset and benefit from improved handset speeds and battery usage. An update for Yari is reportedly on its way as well.

Canon Philippines President and CEO Ramon Arteficio retires

Mr. Ramon Arteficio will step down as Canon Marketing Philippines President and CEO by the end of 2009 due to the company’s retirement policy. Mr. Arteficio’s term was actually extended by one year. The well-loved President said he wanted to retire to allow for a new generation of leadership to step forward.

In his place, Mr. Allan Chng (pronounced as “Chung”) will take over the helm of Canon Philippines starting January 2010.

HP Philippines IPG country manager to migrate to Canada

HP Philippines country general manager, Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) Miss Jenny Sotto-Siquioco will leave her post by the end of the year 2009 to migrate to Canada with her entire family.

HP is still currently looking for a worthy replacement. For the meantime, HP IPG Southeast Asia vice president, Miss Margaret Ong will oversea the Philippine operation.
