Jerry Liao, the host of the country’s I.T. television show INFOCHAT has resign from I.T. Journalist Association of the Philippines (ITJAP) better known as “Cyberpress”.  Liao cited irreconcilable differences among members as the main reason for his resignation.

Earlier, Mr. Leo Magno, a founding member of ITJAP also resigned from the said group for a different reason. Liao and Magno have been members of the group for more than 10 years.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the said resignations.


Storm Warning Worm Threat On The Rise

SecureWorks, announced that it has seen an onslaught of Storm Worm attacks in the last two months. “From the first of January to the end of May, we only saw 71,342 Storm attacks,” said Joe Stewart, Senior Security Researcher for SecureWorks. “However, since June we have blocked 20,200,101 Storm attacks.”

“The number of unique, infected hosts (bots), from which the attack is being launched by email, has also increased dramatically,” said Stewart. “They went from 2,815 in the beginning of 2007 through the end of May to a total of 1.7 million for the months of June and July.”

Red Hat Global Desktop Linux delayed

Red Hat announced that the Red Hat Global Desktop Linux will be available on September, and no longer August as originally planned. The product includes Linux operating system software and other compatible programs for desktop and laptop personal computers.

The new Red Hat product is being delayed so the company can investigate adding technology to permit users to view a wide range of video formats on their computers, including DVDs and streaming media.
