Gaming Giants Blizzard and Activision Merge for $18.9Bn

Activision Inc. signed an agreement with French Entertainment Company Vivendi, pursuant to which Vivendi Games will be merged with Activision, resulting in the formation of the biggest pure-play online and console game publisher in the world.

The company said the combined entity would be named Activision Blizzard and will have around $3.8 billion in pro-forma combined revenues in calendar year 2007. Following the deal, Activision will remain listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange as Activision Blizzard.

Under the terms, Vivendi would hold a roughly 52 percent majority of the merged company by contributing Vivendi Games, valued at $8.1 billion, and $1.7 billion in cash.
