Intel Phils. Launches New Modular Server

Intel Philippines launches the first set of modular server building block products that begin to support a server specification announced last July by the Server Systems Infrastructure (SSI) organization.

The Intel Modular Server built on Intel Multi-Flex Technology enables business in a box with seamless installation, migration, and growth capabilities. It has the ability to support up to six Server Compute Modules and fourteen SAS 2.5″ hard disk drives, as well as two Ethernet Switch Modules, integrated SAN, and a Management Module. The Intel Modular Server is a flexible and powerful system for the small to midsize business.

By using Intel Multi-Flex Technology as the building block foundation for their server solutions, system builders and their customers can have confidence they are deploying industry leading performance, reliability and manageability that people have come to expect from Intel.

PC Gaming Alliance Officially Formed

A consortium of corporate giants ranging from Microsoft to Intel joined hands in an effort to advance the PC gaming platform today, officially announcing the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The stated goal of the PCGA is to serve as a forum for developers to collaborate on the marketing, production, and analyzation of the PC market. The body will act as an advisory board, with the focus on providing a single “voice” for the PC gaming industry.

The PCGA members includes Acer/Gateway, Activision, AMD, Dell/Alienware, Epic Games, Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia. and Razer.

American Idol has announced that they are now collaborating with Apple to offer the performances on their shows on Apple iTunes.  The performances of the entire top 24 semifinalist on the show would now be exclusively available on the Apple’s digital media store.

Apple said that they would now become the “Idol’s” exclusive online download provider. And Apple iPod has now become the official digital music device of the series. Apple iPhone has now been named the series’ official handset.

Apple introduces new 2GB iPod Shuffle

Apple announced a new 2GB model of its iPod shuffle portable music player.  The new, higher capacity model, can store up to 40,000 songs, and will sell for $69.

Apple reduced its standard 1GB model in price to just $49.  The iPod Shuffle comes in five colors–silver, blue, green, purple and a red special edition.

Microsoft has announced that they are now going to provide free access to technology tools used to develop and design software to college and high school students around the world.

The company said that this initiative would allow these students to use the tools to write software applications, design elaborate Web pages and even code games that can run on the Xbox 360 gaming console.

Adobe introduces Director 11

Adobe has announced their latest product named Director 11. This is the next major upgrade to their multimedia authoring software.

Adobe said that the application suite support more than 40 different video, audio and image file formats. It also works along with their Adobe Flash CS3 Professional.
