Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that Adobe’s Flash is not suitable for iPhone, a remark not well received by Adobe. Jobs added that the version of Flash for desktops and notebooks “performs too slow to be useful” on the iPhone, and the mobile version of Flash “is not capable of being used with the Web.”

Adobe responded by saying that the smartphone isn’t ready for the Web without its video-playing technology.


Microsoft showcased a beta of Internet Explorer 8.0 at its Mix conference for Web developers.

Internet Explorer 8 is the next version of Microsoft’s popular browser, and in beta 1 it delivers significantly improved standards support and developer platform investments with enhanced user experiences. Internet Explorer 8 beta 1 delivers increased interoperability, offers developers better predictability when designing sites, and will feature full support for cascading style sheet (CSS) 2.1 at release to manufacturing.

Internet Explorer 8 beta 1 includes integrated developer tools to quickly debug HTML, CSS and scripts in a visual environment. Two new features, Activities and WebSlices, will enable developers to reach beyond the page and introduce news ways for users to stay connected to the content and services of their choice

Microsoft has announced that they are offering more than 30,000 goodies to the users of their just released Office Live Workspace service.

This includes the $100,000 grand prize and other stuff like Zune digital media players and Xbox 360 video game systems.  Microsoft launched the Office Live Workspace to compete with Google Docs service.
