Canon has introduced three new additions to its PowerShot range, including a camera designed “by women for women”.

The first two cameras have been more or less introduced to replace older models, with the A1000 IS and A2000 IS around 25 per cent smaller than the previous A580 and A720.

Meanwhile, Canon calls the third model, the PowerShot E1, a camera “designed for women by women”, which basically means it’s a bit curvier, and comes in pastel shades.

IKON Office Solutions announced that it has signed a definitive agreement with Ricoh Company, Ltd., under which Ricoh will acquire IKON for $17.25 per share, or approximately $1.6 billion in cash.

The combination of IKON and Ricoh will leverage IKON’s sales and services capabilities with Ricoh’s engineering and manufacturing expertise to better meet the needs of customers by offering full end-to-end office solutions and services.

With the demand for digital SLR cameras reaching unprecedented levels, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, is answering the call with the announcement of the next evolution in advanced amateur digital SLR photography, the EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera with 15.1 megapixel resolution and Canon’s new DIGIC 4 image processor.

Designed to offer extraordinary quality and image control for the advanced photographer with a passion for the art, the Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR camera includes an expanded ISO range, improved noise reduction, and in-camera photo editing features. Canon has loaded the EOS 50D camera with a number of enhancements and some trickle-down technology from Canon’s professional Digital SLR cameras, as well as a new Creative Auto Mode (CA) that gives users more creative flexibility to make image setting adjustments conveniently without the need to be a photo expert.

Adobe announced Photoshop Elements 7 and a significant enhancement to its Photoshop.com online offering today. The software additions include expanded quick-fix tools, such as teeth whitening and blue-sky tweaking, plus guided editing sequences that take users step-by-step through a variety of processes, including adjustments for levels and distortion effects, image cropping and adding artistic effects (pencil sketch, old fashioned, etc.).

One feature guaranteed to bring a smile to travelers whose shots of their nearest and dearest are impaired by annoying locals wandering into the frame is the Photomerge Scene Cleaner. Take several photos of your subject in the same setting, load them all into Photoshop Elements 7 and roughly indicate the locals you want removed. The software then automatically compiles a final image, drawing from the series of originals to produce a photo of subject plus scenery minus distractions.
