HP Philippines announced new disk-based backup systems with data deduplication technology that increases disk utilization by up to 50 times to deliver scalable solutions that reduce storage costs and protect business critical data.

HP provides two distinct methods of data deduplication to address the demands of customers of different sizes. For small and midsize (SMB) customers, HP has integrated this functionality into the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup Systems (D2D). For enterprise customers, HP offers deduplication with the HP StorageWorks Virtual Library Systems (VLS).

To provide data protection for micro and small businesses, HP also introduced the new HP StorageWorks RDX Removable Disk Backup Systems (RDX160 and RDX320). These disk backup solutions are easy to use and affordable, and they allow small businesses to store data off-site as part of their disaster recovery plan.

Nokia Philippines recently launched two new products – the Nokia 2680 Slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova.

The Nokia 2680 slide is a slim cameraphone that offers a balance of ease of use and entertainment functionality, including an FM radio with recording capability and MP3 ringtones, and core mobile phone features such as an expanded phone book. Its integrated digital camera ensures spontaneous moments are captured and shared.

The Nokia 7210 Supernova has a chic, slim design and is available in a choice of ‘bubble gum pink’ and ‘vivid blue’ in a gloss finish. With the Nokia 7210 Supernova, people can enjoy music sideloaded from a PC or purchased from Nokia Music Store, as well as manage music with the new Nokia Music PC client, which is available for download. With an SD memory card slot, favorite music and videos can be easily played and saved. A 2 megapixel camera and access to Flickr provide one click access to share photos.

Sony Unveils Ultraportable Blu-ray Notebook

Sony unveiled the VAIO TT laptop, “the world’s lightest computer with Blu-ray Disc technology”. Housed in a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, this new model weighs just 2.87 pounds and is less than 1-inch thin.

The Sony VAIO TT Series ultraportable has a 11.1-inch 1366 x 768 display. The screen features LED backlight and has a 16:9 aspect ratio, used in many HD movies. The Blu-Ray drive is incorporated in select models and reads and writes BD, DVD and CD discs.

The laptop is based on Intel’s Centrino 2 technology. According to specification sheets of the VAIO VGN-TT160N/B and VGN-TT198U/B models, the TT comes with an ultra-low voltage Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, support for up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a traditional hard drive or solid state drive storage. The SSD option will be available in single 128GB or dual (128GB x 2) variants.

Intel vPro third generation launched

Intel has announced the launch of their third generation vPro platform. The company has added several new features including remote management and patching applications.

Intel said that the new platform would now enable the administrators to carry out scheduled tune-ups of PCs. The machines can automatically call for help using the new inbuilt Remote Alert feature.
