Laptop vendors Acer, Asustek Computer, Lenovo and Toshiba have unveiled laptop and notebook computers ready to take advantage of the Sprint Nextel WiMax wireless network. The Acer Aspire, Asus, Toshiba Satellite and Lenovo ThinkPad and Lenovo IdeaPad lines will support WiMax capabilities.

Dell, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony also plan to support WiMAX in their laptops starting in 2009.

The WiMAX ecosystem continues to expand. Sprint noted that Intel is now shipping its first-ever combined WiMAX/Wi-Fi module, formerly code-named “Echo Peak,” as part of the Intel WiMAX/Wi-Fi Link 5050 Series that is an optional feature for Intel Centrino 2-based laptops.

Apple has updated their entire range of notebooks. The company has now launched new versions of Apple MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

The new MacBooks are going to be far lighter due to their aluminum casing. Apple has made the switch to the Nvidia 9400M chipset, along with a nice LED backlit display, and a glass front.

The MacBook Pro will feature a 9600M GT graphics card for the serious gamers.

With regards to the MacBook Air, the size will remain the same, and will feature a 120GB hard drive or 120GB solid-state drive.

Motorola Rolls Out Krave ZN4 Touch Screen

Motorola Inc announced that the Motorola Krave ZN4 touch screen phone is now available exclusively from Verizon Wireless in the US.

The flip design handset features touch screen capabilities on both the internal and external screen. It has a touch controlled 2 megapixel camera, internet browser and texting and e-mailing is simplified with its virtual landscape QWERTY keypad with haptic feedback, conveniently-sized buttons and accelerometer.

Adobe Releases Flash 10 Player

Adobe Systems Incorporated announced the immediate availability of Adobe® Flash® Player 10 software and Creative Suite 4 product family.

Designers using the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product family will be able to gain unprecedented creative control using the new expressive features and visual performance improvements in Adobe Flash Player 10 to deliver breakthrough Web experiences across multiple browsers and operating systems.

Adobe also announced the availability of new versions of Photoshop CS4, Photoshop CS4 Extended, InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4, Flash CS4 Professional, Dreamweaver CS4, Fireworks CS4, Contribute CS4, After Effects CS4, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, Encore CS4, Soundbooth CS4 and Adobe OnLocation CS4.

Symantec has announced the launch of two online services (PC Checkup and PC Tune Up) designed to help home users who do not have the expertise to fix their computers. Symantec said that the two services is applicable to customers using Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems.

PC Checkup: Symantec technicians would perform a series of test for the user and advice him of any further action required.

PC Tune Up: Symantec technicians would perform the test and then fine tune the operating system for optimum performance.
