Apple releases Safari 4 Beta

Apple has released a beta edition of Safari 4 web browser for both Windows OS and Mac OS X.

Vmware announces new OS

Vmware has announced a new product called Virtual Data Center Operating System.

The virtual datacenter OS addresses customers’ needs for flexibility, speed, resiliency and efficiency by transforming the datacenter into an “internal cloud” – an elastic, shared, self- managing and self-healing utility that can federate with external clouds of computing capacity freeing IT from the constraints of static hardware-mapped applications.

The virtual datacenter OS guarantees appropriate levels of availability, security and scalability to all applications independent of hardware and location.

News Corp. President to step down

Media company News Corp. announced that their President and Chief Operating Officer Peter Chernin is leaving the company. He has been with the company for the last 12 years.

In a statement, Chernin said that he is confident that the current management at the company is fully capable of running the company. Chernin’s contract ends on June 30.

Microsoft has announced the launch of a new website that will assist with job training. The site Elevate America has been created to provide users with access to helpful resources for developing necessary skills to obtain jobs.

The website http://www.microsoft.com/ElevateAmerica may be of some assistance to those seeking to hone their Internet and computer application skills, with programs that teach things such as resume creation as well others that cater to more advanced needs.

Gmail Service hit with service outage

Gmail suffered another major issue causing thousands of users and businesses email downtime, both on individual and paid-for corporate accounts.

In a statement, Google said that “A number of users are having difficulty accessing Gmail and we’re working to resolve the problem. We know how important Gmail is to users so we are taking this very seriously and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Acer introduces Gateway to local market

Acer Philippines unveiled the Gateway brand to the Philippines ushering in a new and stylish array of computers to the local market. Acer bought Gateway back in 2007 for $710 million.

Acer Philippines country manager Manuel Wong said Filipino users will enjoy and appreciate the design and the power that comes with the new Gateway machines. During the launch, Gateway introduces the LT series, UC series, MD series and their all-in-one PC.

Gateway appointed Bridge Distribution, Inc. and Axis Global Inc. as their distributors in the Philippines.

Dell Philippines in cooperation with ElectroWorld opens their first Dell Concept store at the new SM North Cyberzone in Quezon City.

The showroom will allow customers to see and try the latest Dell offerings – PC, notebooks, and netbooks.

Dell Philippines consumer retail channels director, Jerry Lacson said the showroom will also act as a hub for those who wants to learn more about Dell and for existing Dell users to consult their experts for any concerns that they may have with their machines.
