AMD set to launch 16 core processors

Posted: April 26, 2009 in Tech

AMD will launch a 16-core server processor in 2011, according to a new development roadmap released by the company.

The chip, codenamed Interlagos, will arrive in servers with two to four processor sockets, offering the possibility of 64 cores per system.

The processors will be created using the 32nm manufacturing method, which AMD says will improve energy efficiency and offer better performance than the 45nm process it currently uses.
