Nokia Philippines targets developing markets with OVI mail

Nokia Philippines introduces their cheapest 3G handset to date, the Nokia 2730 classic – offering faster access to the internet and a richer browsing experience.

The new 2730 Classic has a 2.0-inch QVGA display, 2.0-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and Stereo FM radio. It also comes with Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail.

Nokia Life Tools is a service that enables people to make better informed decisions, find timely and relevant information, access learning opportunities and enjoy entertainment regardless of time or place.

Unlike most other email services, Ovi Mail account can be created and used directly on a Nokia device without ever having to use a PC. Since the launch of the beta service, more than 300,000 email accounts have been created and 90% of which have been created on a Nokia phone. OVI mail provides a free personal e-mail address to users, along with spam and virus protection.

Ovi Mail, combined with the mobile phones we’re launching today, bring powerful solutions that can be the gateway to knowledge, entertainment and people, without the need for a PC.” said Paula Laine, Nokia vice president for category management, entry category.

For his part, Nokia Philippines Country General Manager William Hamilton-Whyte said that through their OVI offerings, Nokia will do its very best to bring the internet and connectivity to every Filipinos. “We will make it happen” said Whyte.

    Maybe you could hold a Nokia event such as a launch of new units (such as the N8 and C6) and ask the contestants to use their Ovi map to lead them to the event here, in Baguio City, High Point Inn has a large greenhouse/function hall, a restaurant, cafe, a gazebo, and luxurious rooms to accommodate such an event. Just a thought. ^_^ Do you need any consumer product testers? Just another thought.. ^_^
