Intel has released a new Atom processor specially designed for netbooks. The new Intel Atom processor is called Pineview and it features the memory and the graphics controller on the same tiny piece of silicon. This processor technology is called Pine Trail, and it should become available in Q4 of 2009.

Intel Pineview platform is based on only two chips, not three like before, and this will lower the manufacturing costs hence the costs of netbooks will lower, and the power consumption will go down too.

Even if Pineview already features an integrated graphics card, users can always choose a NVIDIA Ion graphics card.

Pope Benedict XVI is now entering the world of Facebook and Apple iPhones with an application called Pope2You.

Pope2You for Facebook lets users receive the messages of Pope Benedict XVI so users can meet the Pope on Facebook, listen to his words, see his pictures, receive his messages of congratulations through “virtual postcards”. The postcards can be sent to your “friends” on Facebook and the application can be shared with anyone.”

Vatican has also made available an application named H2Onews on the Apple App Store. The application for the iPhone and iPod Touch brings you timely, insightful news about the life of the Church in the world.

In collaboration with the Vatican Television Center and Vatican Radio, H2Onews connects you with video and audio news from the Vatican.”

Nokia Ovi store to be launched soon

Nokia has announced that they will launching their Ovi mobile store very soon.

Nokia Ovi would be much bigger at launch compared to the Apple App Store when it was launched last year. Nokia said that they would be able to serve more than 50 million mobile users around the world with the launch of the Ovi store.

However, Nokia did not announce the exact launch date of the Ovi store which has been under development for quite some time now.

Adobe announced that they are planning to release patches for their products on a regular pre-defined basis. Adobe said that they aim to have a quarterly schedule to release patches and bug fixes for their applications.

Adobe has been facing a lot of criticism for the lack of updates for their products. Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Flash are often under attack due to bugs in them.

Acer Android phone coming 2009

Acer has confirmed that it will launch a smartphone running on the Android operating system this year.

Acer says it plans to sell around 10 new smartphone models this year, with nine of them running Windows Mobile 6.5.

Acer only entered the smartphone market in 2008, following the acquisition of Taiwan’s portable device-maker Eten Information Systems.
