Fujifilm unveils first 3D stills and films compact camera

Posted: July 23, 2009 in Tech

Fujifilm officially launch what it’s claimed is the world’s first compact camera capable of snapping both still pictures and films in 3D – the Fujiflim FinePix Real 3D W1.

The secret to the 10Mp FinePix Real 3D W1’s ability to capture 3D content lies in its dual CCD sensors. These replicate the work of human eyes by quickly snapping one image for the left-hand eye and another for the right-hand peeper.

A “Real Photo Processor 3D” chip inside the camera then synchronizes the images passed to it by both CCD sensors to produce a single snap.
