A new MD will be announced soon.

Barnes & Noble launches Nook eBook Reader

Barnes & Noble has officially launched their Kindle challenger named Nook. Users would get the ability to lend their owned books to friends who can read them out using an application on their mobile devices or even desktop computers.

Nook is powered by Google Android mobile platform. It comes with 2GB of internal storage.

Yahoo shutsdown Geocities

Yahoo turned off the plug on their Geocities web service which has enabled millions of users to host a website on the web for free. Yahoo acquired Geocities in 1999.

The service shut down would involve deletion of all user data uploaded on this service over the last decade.

Google Chrome Portable released

PortableApps.com has finally made available a portable edition of the Google Chrome web browser.

Users needs to download a small utility from PortableApps.com website which users will use to download the Chrome installer. Afterwhich users will copy the installer to a USB drive.

The procedure is required due to licensing terms and conditions.

Carl Icahn resigns from Yahoo board

Carl Icahn has announced that he is resigning from the board of Yahoo. Icahn said that Yahoo does not need an activist investor as a director at this time.

Icahn joined the company board last year with the aim of forcing the company to sign a deal with Microsoft. He believe that the partnership with Microsoft would benefit Yahoo in the long run.
