Asus Releases The Eee Pad 121 Tablet PC

Asustek Computer Inc. has unveiled a tablet computer, running on Microsoft Windows 7, that’s designed to compete with Apple’s iPad.

As the Computex trade show officially opens in Taipei, reports say that Asustek also will open an application store, similar to the Cupertino, Calif., tech giant’s App Store.

The Asustek tablet, called the Eee Pad, uses an Intel chip and has a touchscreen. Asustek will ship two models, with 10-inch and 12-inch screens, and pricing is set for $399 to $449. The Eee Pad will support Adobe Flash, which many web sites require for viewing,
