According to a recent AppleInsider report, Apple is currently in the advanced testing stage of a refresh for its April-released iPad, with a new version of the tablet device to be introduced with a front-facing camera and FaceTime support.

As per the AppleInsider explanation, the markedly accelerated product cycle for the iPad underlines Apple’s desire to get FaceTime on the device so that all iOS devices can support FaceTime before Apple’s announced plans to launch the feature as an open standard.

In addition, Apple’s reported acceleration in bringing a new iPad version also highlights the company’s well-known strategy of enhancing the value of its flagship products while maintaining price points and margins, instead of reducing prices for the benefit of higher unit volumes.
