Posted: December 13, 2010 in Tech

Lenovo today launched the new ThinkPad Edge 11-inch laptop, the smallest and lightest member of the ThinkPad Edge family. Created for small-to-medium businesses (SMB), the laptop packs ultraportable-like performance and features into a small form factor PC at an affordable price.

Michael Ngan, country manager for Home & Small-Medium Business, Lenovo Philippines, said: “The ThinkPad continues to set the benchmark for quality, reliability and user experience which is why we have gained loyal customers through the years. With its strong heritage of innovation and leadership, ThinkPad is important to growing Lenovo as a brand and a company in the Philippines, particularly for the SMB segment.”

ThinkPad Edge 11” – Light on Weight & Size, But No Lightweight on Style & Features
At roughly the size of a paperback book, the 1.1 inch thin laptop weighs less than three pounds1, making it light for carrying in a bag or briefcase. The 11.6-inch screen gives users plenty of room to work on office documents, presentations and even connect to a TV to watch a high definition movie through the HDMI video port. The full-size, contemporary style ThinkPad keyboard makes typing throughout the work day comfortable, and the spill-proof keyboard means less worrying about accidental spills. And the standard low light sensitive webcamera makes video conferences for business or staying in touch with family and friends simple. The ThinkPad Edge 11-inch laptop comes in two color choices: Midnight Black Glossy and Heatwave Red Smooth.

Mr. Michael Ngan, Lenovo Philippines Country Manager for Home & SMB

“Our ThinkPad Edge addresses the needs of SMBs in the Philippines for a trusted computing solution without having to pay for large enterprise features,” said Ngan. “That’s why we’ve created the ThinkPad Edge 11-inch laptop with the latest processors for multitasking, 3G and WiMax for anywhere connectivity and included extra business-focused features like a standard low light sensitive webcamera.”

The ThinkPad Edge 11-inch laptop powered by the Intel Core i3 processor, provides a responsive computing experience for opening, closing and working with documents. Users can work nearly all day with up to seven hours of battery life2 and connect to wireless hot spots through Wi-Fi or roam using optional 3G or 4G/WiMAX3 with Qualcomm Gobi technology. Equipped with choices of business-class versions of the Windows 7 operating system, only Lenovo PCs come with Enhanced Experience for Windows 7, which enables them to start up significantly faster than identical configuration, non-optimized PCs. Extras like three USBs (one powered) and a 4-in-1 media card reader make connecting, charging and reading peripherals easy.

Contestants were asked to post a photo or video entry of their oldest working ThinkPad as they share their most remarkable experience with it.

10 finalists were asked to bring and display their ThinkPad entries for final judging at the ThinkPad Edge 11” launch event. The grand prize winner will receive a ThinkPad T410 laptop, while two runners up will each receive a ThinkPad Edge 14” laptop.

Among the top 10 entries are aging ThinkPad laptops released in 1990’s and early 2000 like ThinkPad 365x, ThinkPad 600, ThinkPad 380ED, and ThinkPad i Series 1200.

Majority of the participating ThinkPad owners appreciate their iconic ThinkPad because of its durability and ease of use.
