The Canon Pixma Brand Ambassadors

In the launch of Canon PIXMA printer’s first quarter offerings, Miranda, together with fellow pros and Canon PIXMA ambassadors Jo Avila and Per Andre Hoffman, tells what most shutterbugs are missing in their work.

“In all my years in photography and digital imaging I only endorse certain products that I really believe in, Canon PIXMA printers are designed for professional photographers and serious amateurs and hobbyist in mind.” said Jun Miranda, a photographer since 1985 and one of the first ones to shift to digital photography.

For Miranda, photography is a process. “The first step is capturing the image and the final step is actually printing the image,” Miranda said. “When you just upload your photo on the Internet, you don’t show the quality of the image. Only a print can show you how sharp it is, its highlights, and shadows.”

Jo Avila, a professional photographer and lecturer said, “Achieving quality prints requires more than what bargain tech stores offer.” Adding that generic papers and inks will not produce the quality needed.

One of Avila’s oft-talked about subjects is color management or the proper alignment of an entire system of cameras, displays, and printers to maintain consistent color across different color spaces.

“It’s only when you learn about color management that you’ll understood what Canon has been saying about original inks and paper,” he said. “You’re dealing with color profiles, which are only good as long as they are accurate.” Moreover, Avila reckoned that it is more expensive to create a custom profile for generic inks and paper. “Contrary to popular belief, it is cheaper to use original profiles from original Canon inks and paper,” he said.

“The magician of light” Per Andre Hoffmann, who has shot worldwide, said he’d rather not print if he would not get the best possible quality. “If you want to print, you have to present it in the best possible quality and you need a printer that will give you the maximum resolution, the colors need to come out the way you expected them to come out,” he said, pointing out that Canon PIXMA has achieved this quality.

“My first Canon PIXMA produced true-to-life colors, perfect lights and shadows, stunning resolution, contrast, and overall impression,” said Hoffmann whose PIXMA prints using Canon papers have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. “Perfect prints expand creative horizons. They make wonderful gifts and can also be a great success commercially,” Hoffman said. “Because of Canon PIXMA, I have become a print enthusiast.”

As PIXMA Brand Ambassadors, Miranda, Avila, and Hoffmann will be going around the country to photographers how to properly print their photos to achieve excellent colors and output with Canon PIXMA Printers.
