ZTE debuts Grand Era, world’s slimmest quad-core smartphone

ZTE Corporation, recently announced the availability of ZTE Grand Era, which is said to be the world’s slimmest quad-core smartphone and Grand X Lte T82, a 4.3” dual-core smartphone powered by Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Grand Era V985 is ZTE’s latest flagship smartphone offering some historical breakthroughs in handsets such as a PC-class Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU and operates on the advanced Android 4.0 platform upgradeable to Android OS Jelly Bean. It also has 3D acceleration capacity, an 8M-pixel BSI AF HD camera and a 4.5-inch HD retina screen at a resolution of 1280×720.

With an average thickness of 8.6mm, it is currently the world’s thinnest available quad-core handset in the market. The Grand Era also adheres to an expert-class hardware and software safety protection standard called “Palm Manager,” which was independently developed by ZTE.

“The Grand Era has opened the door to the quad-core era for ZTE smartphones,” said by Mr.James Chen Yi, the President of ZTE Phlippinhes. “We believe this product will produce a butterfly effect across the industry and market.”

The addition of Grand Era to the current line-up of ZTE smartphones is expected to strengthen the position of ZTE brand as a serious player in the local mobility business. Early this quarter, MSI-ECS, the exclusive distributor of ZTE mobile in the Philippines also announced the Grand Series line-up: Kis V970; Blade III V889M; and Grand X V970M.

“The Grand Series has many distinguishable features that set it apart from other smartphones in Philippine market. The handsets are high-quality yet price competitive which satisfy the demand for high-quality and affordable smartphones across the country, “said Mr. James Chen Yi.

All Grand Series models are dual-sim capable. “With the use of dual SIM card slots in one handset, mobile users with ZTE Dual SIM smartphones can combine their work and personal communication without the complication and high cost of having two devices,” added Mr. Ken Feng, Director of ZTE Philippines Device Department.

A relatively new player in the mobility market in the Philippines, according to Gartner Report 3Q12, ZTE shipped 16.7 million handsets in the third quarter of 2012, and ranked No.4 in the world with 3.9% market share, following Samsung, Nokia and Apple.
