HP, creating new possibilities for technology to have a meaningful impact on people, unveiled new set of multifunction printers (MFPs) and scanners that come with more features to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) improves productivity and reduce costs without sacrificing quality at Nuvo, Greenbelt 2 in Makati.

Microsoft unveiled details of a forensic study on malware threats that examined name-brand PCs with pirated software installed, as well as counterfeit software DVDs, sourced from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The study, which extends research originally conducted in December 2012, examined a total of 282 computers and DVDs—more than double the original sample—and found an average malware infection rate of 69%, an increase of six points over the preliminary study.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) recently launched Channel Odyssey, a roadshow spanning several cities in HP’s Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, showcasing its portfolio of innovations for the enterprise market. The HP APJ channel is comprised of 12 countries, namely seven from Southeast Asia: Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines and five from Far East, including Australia, China, India, Korea,and Japan.

The roadshow toured the country with the Manila leg held at Dusit Thani Hotel, letting local businesses and channel partners experience its latest lineup of technology solutions tailor-made for various industries including retail, banking and finance, media production, large enterprises and small and medium businesses.

HP announced Virtual Application Networks, a new cloud functionality that speeds application deployment, simplifies management and ensures network service level agreements (SLAs) in cloud and other dynamic computing models across the HP FlexNetwork architecture.

Virtual Application Networks provide a virtualized view of a network- abstracted from the physical equipment- that transforms a rigid physical enterprise network into a programmable, multitenant and application-aware virtual network. Virtual Application Networks use templates to characterize application-delivery requirements and ensure optimal application performance and reliability. This enables IT staff to deploy new cloud applications to users in minutes rather than weeks and ensure SLAs are consistently met by using templates to automate network orchestration. (more…)

HP unveils the first ever 27-inch all-in-one workstation hailed as the HP Z1 workstation. It features a sleek industrial design paired with powerful specifications such as the Intel Xeon processors and the NVIDIA Quadro graphics.

“As the workstation industry leader, HP continues to invest in technology that allows our customers to push the limits of innovation,” said Albert Mateo, HP Philippines general manager for Personal Systems Group. “Our investments in R&D and technology have led to workstations that meet and exceed the needs of the world’s most demanding customers.”

HP recently announced the industry’s most self-sufficient line of servers – HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8), the result of a $300M two-year program called Project Voyager. This addresses the top concerns of enterprises such as manual operations, unplanned downtime and growing server energy and facilities expenses cost.

This program is the company’s initiative to redefine data center economics by automating every aspect of the server life cycle. It has resulted in more than 900 patents filed and a new systems architecture called HP ProActive Insight architecture, which will span the entire HP Converged Infrastructure.
